For about a hundred and twenty years the Nephites live under kings, in two lands a wilderness apart. The story follows kings good and bad, and the sons who inherit from them: Benjamin in Zarahemla and Noah in the land of Nephi, with the prophet Abinadi, the young priest Alma who hears him, and Alma's boyhood friend Gideon. It ends where the Book of Mosiah ends, with a people deciding who will rule them.
