In the new land, after Lehi dies, the old hurt between Nephi and Laman does not heal, and one family becomes two peoples. Across almost four hundred years the story follows both sides: Nephi's daughter Sarah, Laman's son Jether, Nephi's brother Jacob, and the fathers and sons who hand a small set of plates down the line. It shows what a grievance becomes when children are taught it as history.
